“This new project, which I had been dreaming about for years, has become a mission born from the heart. My journey began in Kemri, where I discovered the power of community projects and how they could change lives. I then joined UNICEF with the hope of contributing my energy and vision to the Resilience Program in Somalia. Transforming 35 villages and watching them grow independently shaped my life.”
Today I work with UNICEF in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, applying participatory methodologies to build stronger communities. I was born in Nairobi, where I trained in Public Health and Epidemiology. Now I lead teams in nutrition and resilience, and support wildlife conservation. This project is a lifelong dream come true.”
“My first trip to Kenya was during a summer as a volunteer on a teaching program, an experience that transformed my life forever. The children taught me a true life lesson.”
I immediately fell in love with the warmth of the local people and the breathtaking, seemingly endless landscapes. That deep connection inspired me to stay and work toward a more lasting impact.
This project has become my mission, and every day I work with the firm desire to offer them the tools and opportunities they truly deserve. Kenya is no longer just a place on the map for me, but a home and a purpose.

It all started with an idea in Mer 's heart. After her first summer volunteering in Kenya, where she deeply connected with the children, she felt the need to do more. She knew her love for them and desire to transform their lives couldn't remain a mere passing experience.
It was then, one afternoon, while Mer was listening to John Lennon, that inspiration struck. The lyrics of "Imagine" resonated with everything she wanted to represent: a world full of love, hope, and solidarity, without borders or barriers. She knew at that moment that this would be the perfect name for the organization. Thus was born Imagine Volunteers, an initiative that goes beyond simple aid, building a network of caring and solidarity.
From its very beginning, Imagine Volunteers has worked to support orphaned children and vulnerable communities in Kenya, providing them with resources, love, education, and the hope of a better future. But they didn't just find a name, they also found a slogan that encapsulated their mission. "Your hands are our flag" was a gift from a good friend of Mer's, a pianist and creator of the greatest hug of all time, the best medicine, capable of healing the soul.
During one of her first visits to Kenya, Mer met Jerry , a young man full of energy and kindness. From the beginning, Jerry stood out for his authenticity and unwavering commitment to the community. His passion for helping and his enthusiasm for making a difference made him an essential ally, inspiring those around him with his worldview.
Today, Imagine Volunteers offers volunteer programs in four key areas: healthcare, children's services, and construction, as well as sponsorship to ensure the well-being and overall development of children. The goal is not only to improve the lives of those supported, but also to enrich the lives of the volunteers who join this mission.
Thanks to Mer's vision, Jerry's commitment, and the tireless efforts of the team in Kenya, Imagine Volunteers continues to grow, inviting more people to join this transformative journey. Because, in the end, they know that every helping hand, every gesture of love, can be the spark that ignites a future full of hope.
